Mary Seacole - the Black Florence Nightingale? Panel discussion @ Dalston CLR James Library - Tuesday 12th February 7pm

Friends,

Tomorrow night, as part of the TSSA Learning Festival in Hackney, there is an event about Mary Seacole, her life and her relevance today. The meeting is bound to have a celebratory feel after the government dropped plans to remove Mary Seacole and Olaudah Equiano from the schools curriculum.

We are proud that we have some of the leading campaigners that helped win a victory on this issue contributing to the panel discussion. Come along and celebrate the victory – but also take part in an important discussion about education, black history and the national curriculum.

Mary Seacole: The Black Florence Nightingale?
Led by TUC Race Equality Officer Wilf Sullivan. Panelists include Hackney Councilor Patrick Vernon OBE, Poet and Trade Union activist Zita Holbourne & Operation Black Vote Director Simon Woolley.

Where: Dalston C.L.R. James Library, Dalston Square, Dalston, E8 3BQ
When: Tuesday 12th February, 7.00-9.00pm
