That’s where you come in – we have a vacancy for an individual who understands the values and aspirations of a progressive trade union committed to lifelong learning and working within local communities.
The job: Learning Organiser - Community – Part Time (21 hours a week) fixed term contract until 31st March 2013 (subject to confirmation of continuation of funding this contract may be extended for a further one year)
You will play a crucial role as part of the team delivering TSSA’s Union Learning Fund project. You will identify, plan and pursue community learning organising opportunities within local communities. You will work with, coach and train Union Learning Representatives, TSSA Organisers and Community learning Champions. You will set up and support a pilot learning centre in Hackney or/and another specified area for joint use by workers and local people with an aim of increasing the engagement, and the diversity, of members and non-members in learning and the union
The person: will be an excellent communicator and have very good project management skills. You will have a proven ability to identify, support and coach volunteers. You will also be able to advise on learning and skills in the workplace and in the community with an ability to demonstrate an understanding of how learning initiatives can support the work of our Trade Union and our members. Knowledge of the transport and travel industry and local communities would be an advantage.
The Location: London Euston
The Salary: On an incremental scale that starts at £32,417 pro-rata (plus £4,700 pro-rata London Allowance)
